Say Goodbye to Tattoo Regret with Laser Tattoo Removal

Tattoos: begone. If only it were that easy. However, thanks to advances in laser tattoo removal, getting rid of unwanted ink has never been easier or more effective.

If you hide your ink under long sleeves, laser tattoo removal is a safe and cost-effective way to fade or completely remove unwanted body art, allowing you to leave tattoo regrets behind.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Laser tattoo removal uses high-intensity rays to break down ink particles embedded in the skin. During the removal process, the laser penetrates to the skin’s second layer, the dermis, where tattoo pigments are located. The shattered ink particles are naturally eliminated by the body’s immune system over time. After a few treatments, the tattoo has faded or will have completely disappeared.

The good news is that laser tattoo removal technology has evolved a lot in recent years and is now less painful and requires fewer treatments.

At The Look Lab, we use PicoSure, which is the most advanced tattoo removal laser on the market. Using the world’s first and only 755nm laser, it delivers extremely precise pulses of laser energy in picoseconds – or a trillionth of a second – allowing our team of specialists to precisely target tattoo ink without harming the surrounding tissue. Using PressureWave technology, ultra-short pulses of energy rapidly break apart tattoo ink into dust-like particles, which are eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system.

PicoSure is especially effective on:

  • Multi-coloured tattoos, including blues and greens
  • Hard-to-remove black ink
  • Stubborn, previously treated tattoos

PicoSure: the leading edge in tattoo removal

PicoSure is superior to traditional laser tattoo removal in several key ways. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Fewer treatments – PicoSure lasers are more powerful and more precise and therefore require fewer sessions. While traditional tattoo removal lasers often require up to 20 treatments, with PicoSure, most tattoos can be significantly faded in just one or two sessions. Most patients need four to six treatments to reach their tattoo removal goals, but a consultation is required with our clinic to come up with a treatment plan that’s right for you.
  • Less pain – Advancements in laser technology mean our treatment appointments are much shorter and significantly less painful than traditional lasers. Our patients compare the sensation to an elastic band snapping. Our staff take additional steps to minimize pain and discomfort by cooling the skin before treatments using a cryo device. Numbing gels are also available for an extra level of comfort.
  • Less expensive – Fewer treatments means the tattoos can be faded or completely removed at less cost than with traditional tattoo removal lasers.
  • Optimized skin health – PicoSure tattoo removal is completely safe for most patients and ensures their skin remains healthy, allowing them to age gracefully. Most tattoo removal lasers rely on photothermal action, which uses heat to burn the ink out of the skin, which could burn and damage the surrounding skin and tissue. Instead, PicoSure works with the body to remove unwanted tattoo pigments, using precise and brief pulses of energy that breaks down ink pigments at precise locations, allowing them to be eliminated by the body. This significantly decreases the risk of scarring, or adverse healing.

Recommended aftercare

Healing between sessions is critical and it is important to optimize recovery time by following our practitioner’s instructions, including avoiding sun exposure, applying ointments, and maintaining a healthy skincare routine including sunscreen.

After a laser tattoo removal session, patients can expect a slight whitening of the skin, also known as “frosting,” which subsides immediately following treatment. Your tattoo may also swell slightly and become red and tender for a few days. Bruising and blistering is common, and clients should adhere to their post-care instructions.

What does laser tattoo removal cost?

Laser tattoo removal appointments vary in cost, depending on the size, location, and age of the tattoo, as well as your tattoo removal goals – whether you want to simply fade the artwork or remove it completely.

Our appointments are broken down by small, medium and large areas. See our list of services and pricing here at The Look Lab. New and existing clients that have not had laser tattoo removal with us before must book in for a consultation prior to starting their treatment series.

Laser tattoo removal requires more than one appointment for visible results. We recommend usually 4 to 6 appointments booked 6 to 8 weeks apart.

Each tattoo and individual are different, so a consultation is necessary so you’re fully aware of the amount of treatments you’ll need to book and the cost for each appointment.
